Dr. Olena Lesyk-Laikari, is a Distant Associate Professor, University of Helsinki | Visiting Professor, International Institute of Business, Kyiv | Member of International Research Council and LongLife Member of Eudoxia Research University, USA Faculty Developing Program; Eudoxia Research Center, India | Member of HELSUS | Member of Finterdis | Member of the International Advisory Board at I. Franko L`viv National University, Faculty of International Economics Relations, L`viv, Ukraine. Dr. Olena Lesyk-Laikari is one of the first Ukrainian women to defend a dissertation at the University of Helsinki in 2005. Her academic career bridges Finland, Ukraine, the United States and broader Europe, with a focus on the intersection of international business, economic security, knowledge transfer, and European-Ukrainian integration. She studied economics and business management at leading Nordic business school's HANKEN, HKKK, NHH, and KVL; journalism at SwedishSSS; politics at Harvard University at Division of Continuing Education and HURI 2006. Broadened her expertise through fellowships at the University of Maryland, and multiple European universities research and visiting fellow opportunities, including Vallendar, Madeira, Wroclaw, Vienna, M-laga, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid, Bergen, La Laguna, Copenhagen and Lisabon, and she has contributed to EU-funded and Nordic cooperation projects in education, innovation, and economic development. She also served as Executive Director and Co-founder of the Finnish Institute in Kyiv and Lviv 2017-2019. Her research has produced numerous books, articles, and policy papers, often focusing on the role of knowledge transfer, sustainability and international economics. Current work emphasizes Ukraine's position in the global economy through Northern European security, and the economic dimensions of geopolitical turbulence. In addition to her academic work, she has engaged in applied policy projects with the Ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs, and Economic Development of Ukraine, InWent& GIZ Germany. She has been awarded prestigious fellowships and grants, including from Harvard University, the University of Helsinki, NORFA, FILI, and the LeoMichelin Foundation, certificated by OSCE ODIHR and greatly contribute to volunteer work including varieties of fundraising and advocacy under #WeStandWithUkraine. Dr. Lesyk-Laikari's professional trajectory reflects her commitment to bridging research and practice, advancing European-Ukrainian integration, and strengthening economic resilience in times of global uncertainty.
