Dr. Wafaa Mohamed Abdallah Hikal is an Associate Professor at the Water Pollution Research Department, Environment and Climate Change Research Institute, National Research Centre, Egypt, and an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at the University College of Umluj, University of Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. With a B.Sc. in Zoology (Al-Azhar University, Egypt), an M.Sc. in Parasitology (Helwan University, Egypt), and a Ph.D. in Parasitology (Ain Shams University, Egypt), her research focuses on environmental pollution, parasitology, and water quality. She specializes in studying water-borne and food-borne parasites, as well as the impact of heavy metals, pesticides, and free-living amoebae on water contamination. Her work also includes the isolation, identification, and characterization of parasites, both morphologically and molecularly. Dr. Hikal has conducted significant research on the development of sustainable pest management and the use of natural products as anti-parasitic agents. She has received several prestigious awards, including the International Research Award in Science, Technology, and Management (2022) and multiple incentives from the University of Tabuk for her high citation rates. Throughout her career, she has been involved in numerous funded research projects and international missions, including scientific missions to Japan and China supported by JICA and Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, respectively. Dr. Hikal is also a principal investigator in several significant research projects aimed at improving water safety and public health.
