Dr. Maria-Sofia Vasilakopoulou, MD, MSc, is a Greek physician specializing in ophthalmology. Born in Athens in 1999, she completed her medical studies at the University of Patras with distinction and subsequently earned a Master of Science in Ocular Surgery from the University of Thessaloniki, graduating with an excellent grade. She has gained clinical experience across multiple specialties through her Erasmus+ clinical traineeship at the LMU Munich, including Ophthalmology, Visceral Surgery, Oncology, Hematology, and ENT. Since 2024, Dr. Vasilakopoulou has been working as an ophthalmology resident at Chalkida Hospital, where she is actively engaged in both clinical practice and surgical training. She has participated in several national and international conferences, including meetings of the ESCRS and the Greek Vitreoretinal Society, and has received further training in phacoemulsification, ATLS, and BLS. Her research interests include retinal pathology and ocular oncology, and she is currently preparing multiple scientific publications, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Dr. Vasilakopoulou is fluent in Greek, German, and English and is proficient in clinical software and statistical analysis programs. Outside of medicine, she enjoys tennis, piano, and literature.
