Professor Martha Chadyiwa is a distinguished leader and Associate Professor of Public Health with expertise in Environmental and Occupational Health. She combines academic excellence with strategic leadership, holding an MBA from Twente University and a PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand. As Head of the Department of Environmental Health at the University of Johannesburg (2012-2017), Professor Chadyiwa spearheaded the development of the Master of Public Health (MPH) curriculum and pioneered the innovative MPH chatbot (accessible at https://uj-mph-chatbot.netlify.app/). As a committed mentor, she has guided numerous Masters and PhD candidates to success. Her scholarly contributions have attracted significant research funding, serving as Principal Investigator/Co-Principal Investigator for grants from the South African Medical Research Council and the University of Johannesburg's Global Excellence and Stature 4.0 for Societal Impact initiative. Professor Chadyiwa's excellence has been recognized through prestigious accolades, including named among South Africa's InspiringFifty women in STEM (2021), Black Women in Science Fellowship (2025), Recipient of the Olympus International Awards South Africa (OIASA2025). Her global influence is evidenced by her impactful tenure as Vice-Chair of the U21 Sustainable Development Goals committee (2019-2024), where she led international initiatives shaping health policy and sustainable development. Professor Chadyiwa now seeks to leverage her leadership prowess, policy expertise, and strategic vision to advance internationalization, networking, and collaboration as a representative from Southern Africa.
